

Born Oct. 20, 1925 in Johnson City to Everett E. and Virginia E. (Wilhelm) Camden, he married Virginia L. Smith on July 6, 1947 in Benton. She died March 10, 2004 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mike Munday and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Gene (Janice) Camden and John Stephen (Maggie) Camden, both of Pekin, Cary Matthew Camden of Bradenton, FL and Brooke Burnell (Angela) Camden of Marquette Heights; six grandchildren, Chris Camden, Nathan Camden, Ryan Camden, all of Pekin, Jennifer (Marshall) Tucker of Morton, Robert (Tiffany) Camden of Bradenton, FL and Brooke Camden of Marquette Heights; one step-grandson, Steve Erickson, Jr. of Germantown Hills; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Phyllis) Munday of Creve Coeur and one sister, Frances Munday of Creve Coeur.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of the Scouts and Raiders.
Evert retired from Caterpillar, Inc General Offices in 1983 with 40 years of service as a civil engineer in the heat treat division.
He was a member of the Frank N. Nicol Lodge 1170, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Creve Coeur. He also was a member of the Peoria Chapter of ASM International and the American Foundry Association.
Evert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school for forty years.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his family.
A memorial service for both Mr. and Mrs. Camden will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Richard Shaw will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton, with military rites accorded by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
