Ferne E Clarkston

Born December 20, 1922 in Forest City to Carl and Grace Olive (Tomlinson) Zimmerman, she married Lawrence Edward Clarkston on September 25, 1944 in Pekin.  He died July 4, 1984 in Pekin.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sheila A. Hart on May 25, 1992 in Pekin.

Surviving are three daughters, Sharon K. Neibch of Summerville, South Carolina, and Sandra S. (Bill) Wilson and Sylvia J. (Tim) Telford, both of Pekin; eleven grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Dorsey of Pekin.

Ferne worked for Pekin Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1987 as a bookkeeper in the business office.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Ferne enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.  The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
