

Born August 22, 1919 in Huntsville, Missouri to William M. and Sarah Elizabeth (Brown) Robertson, he married Agnes Imogene “Jean” Haynes on February 13, 1944 in Peoria. She died August 12, 2011 in East Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandson; five brothers; and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Robertson.
Surviving are one son, David Robertson of Pekin; three daughters, Sharon (Jim) Taghan of Washington, Debbie (Pastor Bob) Martin and Sheila Robertson, both of East Peoria; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, he served from June 21, 1941 to October 23, 1945. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and had participated in the Aleutian Islands Campaign.
Frank worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 38 years, retiring in 1985 as a research welder at the Mossville Tech Center.
He was a member of Grace Fellowship in Morton and was a life member of the Morton American Legion. He was a former member of the Morton Masonic Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
An avid sportsman, Frank enjoyed bowling, golfing, and hunting. He loved to Walleye fish and had been a guide on the upper Mississippi River. He was an animal lover and was a Saint Louis Cardinal’s fan.
Frank was a self-taught master builder and had built several homes. He was considered “Mr. Fix-it” to his family.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Bob Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded.
