

He was born October 14, 1950 in Pekin to Leonard and Vera (McMullen) Shanklin. He married Vickie Martin on December 20, 1974 in Pekin. His parents and one brother, William Shanklin preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie of North Pekin; two sons, Frank W.L. (Mandee) and Kevin D. Shanklin both of North Pekin; two grandchildren, Dalton and Kynzie Shanklin; three sisters, Shirley Stevenson of Redmond, OR; Helen Wheeler of Canton, IL and Linda (Bill) Parker of North Pekin, and two brothers, Richard Shanklin of North Pekin and Clarence Shanklin of Georgia.
Frank worked as an assembler with Caterpillar Inc for 30 years before retiring in 2002 and during that time he was also the owner and operator of S&B Excavating, Inc. which he continued to operate until 2011. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 974, he was a North Pekin Village Board Trustee, and a former volunteer Fireman and Policeman with North Pekin.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at First Missionary Church in North Pekin, with a service following the visitation at the Church. The Rev. Tony Darr will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Davison-Fulton-Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
