Gary Francis Starman

Pekin ~ Gary Francis Starman, age 76, of Pekin, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Carle Health - Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born on November 8, 1950, in Pekin, a son of Frank and Wilma Bernice (King) Starman. Gary married Dianne L. Martin on June 10, 1972 in Pekin. She survives.

He is also survived by his two children, Stacy Starman of Pekin, David (Colleen) Starman of Pekin; one grandson, Jason Starman; one brother, Steve Starman of Pekin.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a graduate of Pekin High School, Class of 1968.

Gary served his country in the United States Air Force as mechanic of the B-52's in Utapao, Thailand, during the Vietnam War.

Gary worked as a press brake operator for Morton Metalcraft/MATCOR for 30 years, retiring in 2016.

Gary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was a drummer for local band Abaddon. Gary was an enthusiast of HO scale Lionel trains. He loved watching the Cubs and the Bears play. He cared about the little things, like a good cup of coffee, a good meal prepared by his wife, cuddles with his dog, Luna, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Jason.

Gary's visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am also on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
