

He was born September 23, 1941 in Benton, Illinois to George C. and Pearl (Jones) Glover, Sr. Both of his parents are now deceased.
He graduated from Benton High School in May 1959. He joined the Navy right out of high school and was deployed to the Mediterranean for 3 years service. He was aboard a destroyer, the USS Cecil.
He received an Associate Degree in Technology from SIU, Carbondale in August 1965. In June 1968, he received a Bachelor of Science at SIU and the next degree was the Master of Science in education from SIU in August 1969. He took some advanced study in Guidance and Counseling at ISU from 1971-76. He also obtained an Educational Specialist Degree at Western Illinois University in Macomb in June 1988.
George worked as a teacher and guidance counselor at Pekin High School for 32 years, retiring in June 2001. He had been President of the Teachers' Union for several years before his retirement.
George was a wonderful father, husband, and brother. He had a very laid back personality and was always kind and considerate to all people.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Crystal Taylor Glover; a daughter, Samantha Glover; a son, George Daniel (and fiancé, Amy Thompson) Glover; one grandson, Taylor Thompson; a sister, Rosemary (Jess) Glidewell, all of Pekin; and many nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his thre cats, Alfie, Cleo, and Jasmine.
His funeral will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. R. Keith Heberer will officiate. Visitation will betwo hours prior to the funeral. A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2008at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.
