George J Litz, Jr.

Born June 25, 1940 in Pekin to George Albert and Ruth Ann (Bohn) Litz, he married Gloria J. Johnson on March 26, 1960 in Pekin.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Scott Allen Litz of Manito; two daughters, Melody Litz of Greenville and Alisa Rabb of Pekin; four grandchildren, Scott II and Juley Litz and Kennedy and Emersyn Rabb; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Chase and James Litz and several loving in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard Litz and four sisters, Ruth “Sis” Lohmann, Jean “Babe” Fries, Susan Gebhardt and Virginia “Sugar” Tripp.

George retired from Caterpillar, Inc. as an Electronic Engineer after 26 years. Earlier in his career he worked at Channel 19 WRAU in Creve Coeur for 17 years.

He was a former member of Forrest City-Manito Rotary. George enjoyed working on anything with his hands such as woodworking, cars, televisions and radios.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Dillon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 TAPS Ln., Pekin, IL 61554.
