She was born August 17, 1910 in Munising, Michigan to Elmer and Alma (Monson) Carlson.
Gladys married Alfred Baker in 1932 in Shelton, Washington. He died on March 9, 1974. She then married Eldon Colston on December 15, 1975. Eldon died March 6, 1997.
Gladys was the last of her family. Out of 10 children, she lost four brothers, five sisters, one being her twin sister and baby sister. Most of them lived into their 80's and 90's.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen (Charles) Maas of Pekin; two grandchildren, Barbara Maas of Pekin and Charles Maas of Green Valley; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her only son, Richard Baker, and his two sons preceded her in death.
Gladys worked 10 years for the Washington State Capital in Olympia, Washington.
Gladys moved to Pekin after losing her second husband in 1997.
She didn't take any medicine and was in a hospital only two weeks in her lifetime. She didn't suffer from old age problems like most of us do. Gladys was self-disciplined and would eat three meals a day with maybe a dish of ice cream or cookie at night.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services. Burial of ashes will be in Shelton Memorial Park at a later date.
