

MORTON ~ Glen A. Seelye, 86, of 119 Bond Street, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin.Born June 23, 1923 in Pekin, Glen was the youngest son of Glen B. and Mary E. (Neavear) Seelye. He married Phyllis Mae Rutledge on July 5, 1960 in Galesburg. She died Jan. 1, 1990 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John Seelye, Harry Seelye, Gerald Seelye and Jim Seelye.Surviving are two nieces, Suellen (Dave) Boyer of Gilbert, AZ and Gayle Duden of Minonk and one nephew, James (Gwen) Seelye of Pekin. He also leaves a caregiver and companion of several years, Thelma Robertson.A World War II veteran, Glen served with the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. Much of his service was on the island of Guam in the South Pacific.He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years as a materials handler at facilities in East Peoria and Morton, retiring from Morton in 1977.Glen enjoyed watching professional sports and going fishing. He was a lifelong Chicago White Sox Baseball and University of Illinois Basketball fan.His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Paul H. Walles will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Air Force.Memorial contributions may be made to Morton United Methodist Church, 420 North Tennessee Avenue, Morton, IL 61550.
