

PEKIN ~ Gregory Scott Schrieber, 54, of 732 Audubon Drive, passed away at 6:07 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at his residence.He was born December 4, 1955 in Pekin to Lester Charles and Glenda Lou (Hild) Schrieber.Surviving are his mother of Pekin; one daughter, Stefanie Rae Schrieber of Pekin, who was the light of his life; two sisters, Jan Hayes and Jeri Lynn (Dan) Gianessi, both of Pekin; six nieces and nephews, Zach Hayes of Chicago, Leslie Hayes, Jennifer Schrieber, Frank Gianessi, Sara (Todd) Benton and Rachel Gianessi, all of Pekin. He also leaves many great nieces and nephews; aunts and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Steven Schrieber and two uncles.Greg was a member of Millwright Local 1051 in Lincoln, last working in March of 2008. He worked out of the Millwright union and formerly Carpenters Local 644 in Pekin for more than 35 years. A majority of those years he worked for Mid-America Systems, River City Construction or at Commonwealth Edison Power ton Station and Caterpillar, Inc.He loved teasing and spending time with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered as a NASCAR enthusiast, grill master and mowing maniac. He formerly enjoyed boating and was a past member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916.His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund established for his daughter in care of Herget Bank, P.O. Box 839, Pekin, IL 61555.
