J. Eric Riley

Born June 14, 1956 in Mount Vernon to James Donald and Joanne (Hutchison) Riley, he married Sheryl Lynn Pullen on August 6, 1977 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his father of Pekin; two sons, Justin (Melanie) Riley and Dane (Nichole) Riley, both of Pekin; one daughter, Lindsey (Ronan) Shableski of Chicago; five grandchildren, Hailey, Olivia, Maverick, Conor and Anders.

His mother preceded him in death.

Eric attended Illinois State University in Normal and enjoyed a long career in sales. He last worked for Orkin and was a past three time member of their president’s club. He also was a past salesman with Scherer Buick in Pekin.

He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church, both in Pekin. Eric enjoyed playing church league softball for many years. He loved playing baseball when younger. He also enjoyed playing golf and watching it on television. He was a former member of Pekin Moose Lodge 916. Eric was a fan of the annual Pekin Fireworks Display.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel J. Bishop will officiate. Cremation has been accorded.
