

Born October 9, 1928 in East Peoria to Emmanuel and Anna (Apfel) Shepler, he married Joyce Ann Noard in 1954 in Pekin. He later married Marjorie Baird Sevier on October 14, 1994 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Dr. Lynn T. Shepler of Tucson, Arizona and Lory A. Giosta of Pekin; 3 sons, Mark H. Shepler and David J. (Heather) Shepler, both of Pekin, and Scott A. (Missy) Shepler of Chillicothe; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin and Dominic Giosta, John and Amanda Tyrone, and Christopher and Sarah Grace Shepler; and 1 brother, Richard (Marlene) Shepler of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Robert Shepler.
He had owned and operated Jack H. Shepler Mechanical Contractor: Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. Previously, Jack was co-founder of E.F.Shepler and Sons Heating and Air Conditioning, He served in Korea with the U.S. Army and was a member of George Maple Amvets Post #235 and William Schaefer American Legion Post #44, both in Pekin, and Veterans of Foreign War Post # 2078 in East Peoria. He was also a member of both the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
Jack was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria and attended Bradley University for 2 years.
He was a member of Plumbers Union Local # 63 in Peoria.
Jack was an active conservationist and was concerned with saving Pekin Lake. He was also a member of the Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society.
His graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Military graveside honors will be provided by the U.S. Army, the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team, and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.
