

Born December 18, 1931 in Pekin to Homer E. and Gladys Amelia (Dennis) Delahunt, he married Nyla F. Diers on August 24, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Crystal (Roger) Prouty of Vero Beach, Florida; one son, Dennis (Brenda) Delahunt of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Ryan (Abby) Prouty of Marquette Heights, Scott (Cristina) Prouty of Vero Beach, Florida, Sean Delahunt of Pekin, Rachel (Joe) Bierbaum of Heyworth, Seth (Lindsey) Delahunt of Normal, and Hannah Delahunt of Gibson City; six great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Carole Delahunt of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Delahunt; one sister, Betty Starcevich; and one brother, Don Delahunt.
Jim was a 1951 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Jim worked for CILCO for 39 years, retiring in 1990 as a crew leader.
He was a member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1232 in Pekin and the Logan American Legion Post #263 in Lincoln.
Jim enjoyed his 1932 Auburn and attended the annual Auburn Cruise-in Car Show in Auburn, Indiana every year since 1984.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
