Jane R. Evans

Born December 1, 1944 in Franklin, Minnesota to Samuel C. and Edith M. (Kinsinger) Westerhouse, she married Richard Dale “Jack” Evans on December 10, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. He died August 5, 2020 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Evans; one grandson, Matthew Evans; four brothers, Glen, Doug, Paul and Bob and one sister, Doris.

Surviving are two sons, Jack (Michelle) Evans of Palmer, Alaska and Joseph (Kim) Evans of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one daughter, Jessie (Carey) Rice of Kingman, Indiana; six grandchildren, Tyler (Holly) Evans of Pekin, Felicia (Derek) Auth of Towanda, Danielle (Eric) McElroy of Kingman, Indiana, Zachary (Adrianna) Rice of Waveland, Indiana, Bendigo (Chassidy) Evans of Greely, Colorado and Pete (Elena) Evans of Cameron, North Carolina and eleven great-grandchildren.

Jane worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years as a machinist, retiring in 2002. She was a proud member of UAW Local 974 and was the current President of the UAW retirees.

She loved her children and grandchildren and was always focused on helping others. She enjoyed working puzzles and working in her yard. She also enjoyed watching birds from her kitchen after making sure her bird feeders were full.

Jane was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Eric N. Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Cremation will be accorded.
