Janet Marie Brown

Born January 21, 1934 in Peoria to Lester and Marie (Mattocks) Ruark, she married Robert W. Brown on May 10, 1952 in Peoria. He died June 3, 2018 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara Pierce.

Surviving are one daughter, Christina Lang of Peoria; one son, Michael (Jan) Brown of Pekin; two grandchildren, Ben (Taylor) Brown of Pekin and Jennifer (Ryan) Fairman of LaGrange; five great-grandchildren; one sister,, June Johnson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and one brother, Larry Ruark of Lake Worth, Florida.

Janet had worked as a Lab Tech for Pekin Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2001.

She enjoyed traveling, listening to Blue Grass music and boating. She was also a member of the Pekin Boat Club.

Janet was a longtime member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
