I was saddened to learn about your fathers passing.  I lost my father and friend just over 2 months ago.  It was a terrible struggle and continues to be, but the reliance and focus on family and friends is the way you get through it. One day when Jerry, Durbin, and I were working near Manito and the poles were on the other side of a drainage ditch, Jerry, (after looking at it, said "I can jump that!"  I said, "I don't THINK so!"  Jerry immediately took a running leap and landed right in the middle of the water! He looked at me and said, "Well, I'll be doggone."  That is the essence of my friend... always full of hope and determination.  I'll miss you buddy.

Jerry was the sort of family man and friend that I try to emulate. Growing up, it seemed there was always a cookout or pool party going on at the McDonald house. Jerry was the ringleader of these events. He didn't have a loud laugh but it was very distinctive. I can hear it now if I close my eyes.

I loved the few times we played guitar together. I'm not sure if he played it often or it's just strong memory of mine but I recall him singing Me & Bobby McGee. It's the first song I'll request of him when I see him again. He played guitar and sang like he lived...with gusto and very good humor. 

Even though we spent such little time together since those days on Manor Street, I have such strong and warm memories of him. He had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room.

My heart goes out to all of you, McDonald family. What a prince of a man you shared with us all. God bless each of you as you grieve.

My mother and I would like to send our condolences to the whole McDonald family.  My mom told me about Jerry's passing and my heart felt sad.  I then remembered Jerry's huge smile and how he always made us ALL feel like family.  Michelle and I have been friends since junior high.  How wonderful to know that Jerry(All his girls hero) will be joining my dad(my hero.) I can't put into words how sorry I am about Jerry's death. He was such a special man and one that I admired greatly. I loved his quirky sense of humor and his knack for telling stories. As a girl, I thought he was the best-looking dad on our block and loved that he would stop his chores to chase us in our game of hide & seek. Another special memory includes Jerry and The Shockers performing for Buzz's retirement from CILCO. He had such talent and music was a part of who he was.

Jerry will be missed by many people because he touched so many lives. All of you are in my prayers and may you feel God's grace all around you. Love, Traci

I want to say how sorry I was to hear about Jerry passing away.  I came to USC in 2008 and to come in after a legend like Jerry was a little scary.  Jerry made me feel like one of the family and I soon found that Jerry was there when I needed help.  Jerry wrote a safety message for all of us every week and those words of wisdom will live forever.  One time I was in St Louis for an Ameren meeting.  A guy who I didn't know came up to me and told me how much he liked the companies safety letters that he got every week.  I told him that Jerry was the author of those letters and he told me to thank him.  Apparently Jerry's safety letters had made it all around the Ameren world and the country. Jerry affected so many people in such a positive way.  We will miss Jerry. 

I will always cherish the memories of Jerry and his special family. He was always there to greet you with a big hug and smile whenever someone stopped by the house. He had a huge heart and everyone he met loved him. What I remember most was the love he had for his family! What an honor to have ever known him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  No words can console when we lose our Father, Father-in-Law, and Grandpa.  I do know that so many people prayed and asked God to give Jerry "more time."  God Blessed Jerry's family and friends with more time.  
 He has now gone to heaven and has left the world- his legacy.  Melissa, Mark, Ethan and Jaret, he gave you his love of God, his love of family, an friends.  His legacy will live on in all of you!

As a co-worker of Heidi's, I want to extend my condolences and prayers for your father and for you and your family.  He will live on in your memories. 

Gonna miss you Jerry. Playing music and baseball together will always be fresh in my memory. You were a good friend and an even better husband & father. My deepest sympathy to your wonderful family. 

Jerry was probably the only person in CILCO that could have convince me to join the Sounds of Safety group.  That's because I can't sing a lick, but Jerry only focused on the message and not the poor singer in me.

We gave a lot of performances to CILCO and other companies to get the safety message across.  Jerry always seemed to have a smile on his face or soon would have one if he was distracted by some work-related worry at the time.  

He truly was a good friend and an inspiration.  We will miss him.

There are folks we meet that change your life, in some quirky way, touch your heart, and make you smile. I feel lucky, really lucky, I was blessed to have you a part of mine.

Jerry & family : Jerry was a good man ... I got to know  him through music local bands...way back in the days.  He was a great guy then too ! An exceptional person in every way. We are blessed to have known him. 

Even though it's been years, I have such fond memories of Jerry and his family.  We share a niece (Julie Boyer) and nephew (Bart Boyer), so I have kept tabs on him through them.  I know that you will all miss him very much but can take comfort in knowing that he is in a better place and is free of pain and disease.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hi JerryLyn & family - we are so very, very sorry to learn of Jerry's passing.  We are in Canada on vacation so will not be able to personally come to express our sympathies.  We will remember the great learning and sharing of work and friendship from CILCO years and children's friendships while they were growing up.  He was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  My favorite story of Jerry is his misspelling of "Louisville" when he was writing a letter for my to type.  He brought in a bat from brother Mike and copied the logo, then changed it to read "Louieville" to match what he had written.  A long way to go to prove a point - even when he didn't quite get it right - but we had a great laugh !  Take care - God Bless

Sorry for your loss, worked with Jerry at Cilco and he was a great guy.  

Please allow us to give our deepest sympathy in the passing of Mr. McDonald.  We never got the chance to know him personally but yet somehow felt we had a glimpse into the type of person he was.  There was never a neighbor that he did not know.  Maybe not by name but certainly by face.  It showed everytime we drove down the street and were greeted with a wave and a hugh smile.  Most of the time mans best friend would be standing next to him.  I always knew when it was time to put up our Christmas light by watching him take so much pride in his.  It's unfortunate that he'll never know that this one act of kindness affected so many of his Northgate friends.  We will truly miss his smile and wave.  Please accept our condolesences.

Even though I don't believe I ever met Jerry, Michelle and I were junior high and high school friends. My prayers have been lifted continually for the McDonald family today. From what I have seen and read on Facebook, Jerry and his wife have raised a beautiful family and have so much to be thankful. The fact that Jerry worked 38 years at CILCO is a testament to his commitment to the Pekin community and providing for his family. I know that Jerry has greeted my father in Heaven as he passed through it's gates. May God grant His strength and grace upon your entire family today and in the days to come!    

Just wanted to wish my condolences to Jerry's family, they have lost such a beloved man. Jerry loved his family and it is reflected by the legacy he has left behind.  I will always remember Jerry joining his fellow golf colleges early week-end morning at Parkview and Lick Creek where I worked as a teenager.  Jerry was always friendly and you could always rely on him having a smile one his face.  It was his smile that has always been memorable for me.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time as they pay tribute to his life and bid him farewell for a time.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Jerry.  I remember growing up across the street and having neighborhood block parties, swimming in the pool with the Tiki torches going.  I can still picture Jerry standing on the driveway with a beer in his hand..lol  Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Treasure your memories.
