

PEKIN ~ Jerald William "Jerry" McDonald, 68, of 2009 Westgate Drive, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Emergency Room in Peoria.Born October 17, 1941 in Pekin to Justin Carl "Buck" and Maria Louise "Mary" (Berardi) McDonald, he married Jerry Lynne Albritton on August 24, 1963 in Pekin. She survives.Also surviving are four daughters, Michelle (LTC Jeff) Winters of Portsmouth, RI, Angela (Scott) Jones of Pekin, Melissa (Dr. Mark) Zaayenga of Tremont and Heidi (Meldon) Black of Batavia; ten grandchildren, Samantha Winters, Emily Winters, Sarah Jones, Alex Jones, Montana Jones, Maxwell Jones, Ethan Zaayenga, Jaret Zaayenga, Jevon Black and Sophia Black; one great-granddaughter, Bayleigh Jones and one brother, Michael David (Peggy) McDonald of Morton. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Louise Ronvich of Pekin and a sister-in-law, Janet Boyer of Pekin.His parents preceded him in death.Jerry retired in 1999 from Central Illinois Light Company, where he worked 38 years, the last 5 years as the Technical Training and Support Advisor. He previously worked 19 years as a lineman for CILCO and 15 years as a supervisor in CILCO's Pekin District.A family man, Jerry enjoyed playing the guitar and singing to his grandchildren. He loved being out on the patio barbequing for family and friends. He was an avid golfer and a diehard New York Yankees fan.If you knew him, you loved him. He will be remembered as everybody's best friend.He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Timothy Nolan and Father Gary Blake will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, with the recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 303 South 7th Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 651 West Washington Blvd., Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60661.
