

Born on February 2, 1938 in Newbern, Tennessee to Jacob and Ora (Austin) Newsom, he entered into matrimony with Norma Zata on May 24, 1985 in Fairfax, Virginia, who lovingly survives him.
Jerry is remembered by his four children: Ronald David Newsome of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mark Jacob (Robin) Newsome of Michigan; Anthony Mario Newsome of Oregon; and Mylen (Stan) Alverson of Ohio. His legacy also lives on through his 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Wroblewski.
He was preceded in death by his sons Jerry William “Billy” Newsome and Jerry Joseph, grandson Joshua Newsome.
Jerry dedicated his life to the tubing steel Industry in Pekin, throughout the United States and Canada, later enjoying part-time work at Walmart Supercenter and tending to the greens at Sunset Hills Golf Course in Pekin during his retirement. Fully retiring at 84.
An avid enthusiast of golf, pool, fishing, and card games, he cherished Friday night game nights with friends and embarked on road trips alongside his wife, Norma.
A memorial gathering will be held at from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Jerry & Norma Newsome’s home at 2107 Vista Del Rio Court, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
He was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
