She was born July 12, 1928 in Forest City to Howard and Beulah (Bates) Root.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Lynne) Jones of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Denny (Carol) Jones of Pekin; two grandchildren, Troy (Marcy) Jones of Mesa, Arizona and Christine (Brendon) Payne of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; three great-grandchildren; and one step-brother, Andy Wassell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, June Root; and two brothers, Richard Root and Stanley Root.
A homemaker, JoAnne had worked at Hiram Walker and Sons in Peoria in her earlier years.
JoAnne was a very out-going and social woman. She enjoyed her McDonald’s in Creve Coeur Breakfast Group.
There will be no services and cremation will be accorded.
