

Born April 14, 1930 in Iron Mountain, Missouri to Roy and Pearl (Fortner) Veach, he married Maureen Gillispie on November 13, 1949 in Osceola, Arkansas. She died on April 5, 1983. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Surviving are 1 son, Joel (Deborah) Veach of Mountain View, Arkansas; 3 daughters, Kathy (Steve) Kenney of Pekin, Beverly Veach of Bloomington, and Trudy Veach Melbourne, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Adam, and Justin Veach, all of South Pekin, and Marty and Cory Kenney of Pekin; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah Veach of Mason City and Kyleigh Veach of Pekin.
Joe worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 1982 as a machinist.
A life member of Roy L. King V.F.W. Post #1232 in Pekin, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the U.A.W. # 974 in East Peoria.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and walking early mornings in Coal Miner’s Park.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be 1 hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton, where military rites will be accorded.
