Born February 27, 1955 in Peoria to Delbert and Edweidyne “Eddie” Kaufmann Nizzia, he married Jill R. Wyman on November 2, 1975 in Pekin.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years; three daughters, Jennifer R Gray, Jamie L. (Paul) Driskell and Judy Ann Nizzia, all of Pekin; one son, Joey (Kristina) Nizzia, II of Pekin; 12 grandchildren, Zoe, Savannah, Brody, Gianna, Liam, Bayley, Olivia, Audrey, Alison, Madison, Baylee and Khloee; one sister, Marilyn Van Wagoner of Pekin and one brother, Anthony Nizzia of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delbert and Jeff Nizzia.
Joe had worked as a chemical operator for 43 years, 6 months and 5 days at Lonza Chemical in Mapleton, before retiring November 5, 2021.
A loving and dedicated husband, pops and grandpa, Joe loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a tinkerer who enjoyed spending time outdoors and mowing his yard.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
