Born August 19, 1929 in Peoria to Fredrick and Rose (Schlumpf) Gluck, he married Helen Dridos on February 18, 1954 in Palmyra, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife; one son, John Anthony “Tony” (Vicki) Gluck of Glendale, Arizona; two granddaughters, Amanda Gluck and Kayla Gluck, both of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Joel (Joy) Gluck of Peoria; and one sister, Edna (Robert) Root of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
John worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 26 years, retiring as a machine operator in 1990. Previously, he had worked for Wahlfeld Lumber Company in Peoria
He served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
A life-time member of Trinity Temple in Peoria, he had served as a deacon and lived his life as a good Christian man.
John enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Bradley basketball fan.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. B.G. Drake will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
