

Born June 2, 1931 in Decatur to Mont and Goldie (Grubb) Million, he married Patricia Youngblood on April 3, 1955 in Folkston, GA. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1993 in Pekin. He later married Dolores (Graber) Gray on August 27, 1994 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Jeanne (Brad) Martin, Joan Million and Jeri (Andy) Hesh, all of Pekin; one son, J. Matthew (Pam) Million of Schaumburg; three step-sons, Wayne Gray and Kevin (Vicky) Gray, both of Bartonville, Tim Gray of Franklin, WI; two step-daughters, Kathy (Dan) Meskimen and Karen (Joe) Palazzo, both of Bartonville; three grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-one step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie (Earl) Vermillion of Pekin.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and one step-granddaughter.
John served in the United States Navy during the Korean War era.
He worked 38 years for Illinois Bell, which later became Ameritech, retiring in March, 1993.
John was of the Christian faith.
He was a past member of the Pekin Family Moose Center 916.
A “jokester”, John enjoyed bowling, family gatherings, traveling to their cabin in Wisconsin, going to Branson, MO for family reunions and Tuesday evening pizza at the Driftwood.
He was a wonderful man who touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He was “one in a MILLION”!
His visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private graveside services will be at a later date.
