

Born May 13, 1943 in Peoria to Rufus and Irene (Bricker) Morton, he married Katherine Louise Button on May 27, 1978 in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Price of Deland, Florida and Michelle Couch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three sons, John Kell (Blondie) Morton, Jr. of St. Peters, Missouri, Scott (Linda) Morton of Pekin and Steven L. (Debbie) Morton of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren, Evan Couch, Jessa Morton, Breck Morton, Tara Morton, Tristan Morton, Justin Morton, Steven Morton, Cody Morton, Taylor Morton, Jacob Price and Chloe Price; one great-grandson, Steven Morton; one brother, Steven G. (Patricia) Morton of St. Augustine, Florida and one half-brother, Robert (Stacy) Selquist of Riverside, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Scottie and Edna Bricker; and one sister, Jenny Smith.
John worked as a service engineer for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 40 years, retiring in 2002.
John was very kind and giving and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. He also had played the keyboard in some bands.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Rev. Jeff Leeman will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral on Saturday. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
