

Born May 18, 1930 in Paducah, Kentucky to Gordon and Margaret (Crowell) Trobaugh, he married Virginia Doris Christoff on February 19, 1949.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Trobaugh of West Peoria; one son, Rick (Mary Jo) Trobaugh of Godfrey; son-in-law, Randy McKelvey of Swansea; six grandchildren, Heather Allen of Montgomery, Kristen (Josh) Black of Georgia, Brent (Kari) Trobaugh of East Alton, Chad (Yolanda) Trobaugh of La Porte, Indiana, Corey Trobaugh of Alton, and Andrew (Rachael) Trobaugh of Bethalto; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Ann (Tom) Gher of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kathy Lynn McKelvey on March 14, 2017.
John worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1981 from the hydraulic hose plant at Mossville.
He was a devoted member of Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, where he was a former deacon.
John was a master craftsman with furniture and shared many pieces that he made with his family, friends, and church. He was an avid fisherman and was an amateur radio operator with the call sign, WB9AOV.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Joel Newton will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
