

Born October 10, 1940 in Pekin to Wilbur and Nellie A. (Miller) Barr, he married Sandra K. Watson on August 4, 1962. They later divorced. He then married Robin L. Bowersock on May 11, 1991 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Shelly (Hans) Hagen, III, Tammy Carlton and Jill (Zack) Keedy, all of Pekin; two sons, Damon Barr of Green Valley and Jason (Nicole Windecker) Hatfill of Tilton; his daughter-in-law, Angela Hatfill of Pekin; 11 grandchildren, Hans Hagen, IV, Stephanie Eertmoed, Stephanie Pasqualino, Nick (Natalie) Carlton, Zack (Jaci) Carlton, Shane (Nicole Tatro) Svendsen, Tierza Tosi, DreeAnn (Dan Widdicombe) Barr, Drake (Rikki Trimpe) Barr, Rylee Hatfill and Jesse Hatfill; 12 great-grandchildren, Hans Hagen, V, Kaden Hagen, Alivia Eertmoed, Rose Pasqualino, Colin Eertmoed, Tucker Sutton, Ryder Broadfield, Zoey Carlton, James Ford, Wren Fouts, Sawyer Svendsen and Charlotte Carlton; two brother-in-laws, Michael Coats of Lincoln and Richard Coats of Pekin and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson, Dakota Hatfill; his brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Betty Barr, his sister-in-law, Patty Coats and nephew, Tim Barr.
Jon was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1959 to 1962.
He had worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville for 40-plus years before retiring in 2002.
An avid Civil War buff, Pinky was a lifelong fan of the L.A. Dodgers and Chicago Bears. He had a soft spot for animals and leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Molly, Oscar, Jerzey, Tess, Baby and Binx.
Jon thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Transitions Hospice and his nurse Madi and his CNA’s, Lainee and Makalia.
His memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services. The family request that everyone wear their favorite sports team apparel.
