

Joy was born August 25, 1930 to Burt Hughes and Hattie Peterson in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She married Glenn Lawler on July 11, 1955 and later married Charles Curtin on March 8, 1969, they both preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by both of her parents, three brothers; Ralph, Dwight, and Don, one sister; Edith, and one daughter; Donna Lawler.
Surviving are two sons; Mark Lawler and Gary (Marla) Lawler, one step-daughter; Cheryl (Larry) Kadinger, one step-son; Ed Curtin, one niece; Linda Kingry, five grandchildren; Kristina (Ben) Funk, Dan Lawler, Kevin (Tracy) Lawler, Mike (Bobbi) Harshbarger, and Stacey Elliot, and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending her time playing cards, golfing, and bowling. Joy had worked at Pekin Insurance in their accounting department.
Cremation has been accorded to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of life will be held on April 18th at 1 p.m. at the Pekin Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Joy’s honor to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter at 100 TAPS Lane Pekin, IL 61554 as she had a fondness for cats throughout her life.
