Joyce Massey-Youngren

Born August 6, 1928 in Bradford, Arkansas to William Herbert and Vernie (Durham) Carter, she married Dean Massey on June 14, 1946 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He died January 13, 1980. She later married Claude E. Youngren on December 31, 1984 in Pekin. He died August 26, 1992. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dan Massey; and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Gary A. (Rene) Massey of Columbia, Missouri; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth (Mel) McGill of Hempstean, Texas and Brenda (Virgil) Mayo of Pekin; one brother, William A. (Barbara) Carter of Galliano, Louisiana; and one daughter-in-law, Dee Massey of Minier.

Joyce worked for Perlman Carpet in Pekin. She later worked for We-care in Morton until she retired in 1990.

Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Tom Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
