Kenneth L. Adams

Born January 26, 1931 in Peoria, he was the son of Hilbert Louis and Hazel (Redmond) Adams. He married Josephine Ortega on February 18, 1951 in Peoria. His wife of 71 years survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dianna Adams of Peoria and Gloria (Richard) Lanhardt of Pekin; one son, Kenneth LeRoy (Patti) Adams, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida; five grandchildren, Richard Dean Lanhardt, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida, Nichol (Sean) Vest of Kansas City, Missouri, Tara (Kevin) Strickland of Galivant Ferry, South Carolina, Kyle Chestnut of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Traci Chestnut of Fort Myers, Florida; eight great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lanhardt, Dalton Vest, Dawson Vest, Dillon Vest, Abigail Strickland, Emmalyn Strickland, Peyton Chestnut and Rilee Chestnut; one great-great-granddaughter, Madeline Wade and three sisters, Edella Haller of Bartonville, Vicki Beckhoff of Pekin and Karen Jenkins of Spring Bay.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David H. Schreiter and two sisters, Brenda Banks and Betty Somogyi.

A United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, Ken served in the same unit with George Jones.

Ken worked for Fleming Potter in Peoria for 47 years as an embossing press operator, retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family. He also had a great love of music, enjoyed taking cruises and working on the computer.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
