Kenneth L Bowers

EAST PEORIA ~ Kenneth Lee Bowers, 81, of 91 Hoffman Road, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria. Born August 14, 1926 in Peoria to Willard and Anna Bowers, he married Betty Baker on November 30, 1945 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Kenneth L. (Pamela J.) Bowers of East Peoria and Terry (Donna) Bowers and Gary Bowers, both of Pekin; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Abbey of East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Kevin Bowers and Ricky Lee Bowers; three brothers, Carl Bowers, Lester Bowers, and Chuck Bowers; one sister, Dorothy Bowers; one grandson, Shawn Lynn Bowers; and one great-grandson, Travis Bowers. Kenneth was a laborer, working out of Laborer's Local #165 for over 25 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
