Born December 22, 1944 in Peoria to George and Marietta (Bales) Stuart, he married Gloria Jean Cooper on December 1, 1962 in Peoria.
Surviving is his wife, Gloria of 59 years; his mother, Marietta Bahl of Peoria; one daughter, Lisa (Dean) Ziegenbein of Pekin; one son, Larry (Susan) Stuart, Jr. of Pekin; five grandchildren, Erica (Cody) Mauer, Carly (Dustin) Lou, Jared Ziegenbein, Paige Stuart and Clayton Stuart, all of Pekin; three great-grandchildren, Liv Blakesley, Layla and Remington Mauer; two sisters, Sheila Barlett of Peoria and Brenda Bennett of Edelstien and two brothers, George Stuart of Peoria and Vern Stuart of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James Stuart.
Larry was a past member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and a current member of Sons of the American Legion, where he had served as treasurer.
He had worked at Waste Management in East Peoria for 43 years, retiring in 2007 as Operations Manager.
A loving and dedicated husband, son, father and grandfather, Larry loved eagles, playing poker, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas. His greatest joy was spending quality time with family, especially his great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Dave Ziegenbein will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
