

Born August 24, 1930 in Pekin to George and Josephine (Graham) Hill, he married Mildred Gaiser on September 6, 1952 in East Detroit, Michigan. She died on December 23, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Diane Hill; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Hauser.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn (Dennis) Hauser of Pekin and Teresa Hill of Montana; two sons, James (Rachel) Todd of Pekin; Lloyd Hill, Jr. of Northern Illinois; two grandsons, Derrick Hauser and James Todd, Jr.; and a cousin, Michael R. Russo, Sr., of Pekin.
He attended Bradley University in Peoria, studying civil engineering.
Lloyd entered the United States Army in 1946, doing his basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He attended jump school and was stationed at Sindi, Japan. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1950. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving with the Air Police in Korea from 1952-53 and as a heavy equipment operator in Thailand and Viet Nam from 1960-62. Lloyd retired in 1971 as a Master Sergeant. Among the awards he received were the Army good conduct medal with 4 bronze loops, the Army small arms marksmanship ribbon, and the Air Force good conduct medal.
He was a member of Roy L. King VFW Post #1232 in Pekin and George Maple Amvets Post #235 in Pekin.
Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Randy Hart will officiate. Private burial will be in War Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his grandson, Derrick Hauser, which is being established at Pekin National Bank.
