

Born October 29, 1932 in Pekin to Adie and Flora (Freed) Rodcay, she married Howard H. Harms on July 19, 1952 in Benton, Arkansas. He died November 5, 2010 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alan Rodcay and John Rodcay.
Surviving are one daughter, Sue Ellen (Steven) Taylor of Pekin; one son, Scott (Tana) Harms of Pekin; three grandchildren, Christopher Harms of Pekin, Justin (Amanda) Harms of Hillsborough, North Carolina and Stefanie Allen of Peoria and two great-grandchildren, Corban Allen and Matthew Allen. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rodcay of Washington and Marcella Harms of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
Loretta was a Registered Nurse for 40 years and was a member of the last graduating class in 1956 from Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She worked as an Industrial Nurse for 18 ½ years at American Distilling Company. She last worked 15 years at Pekin Hospital and retired in 1991.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was a former member of the bell and sanctuary choirs. She had served the church as a Kindergarten Sunday school teacher, past superintendent of the primary Sunday school department. She also was a member and past president of the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 Ladies Auxiliary. Loretta was a past president of the Proctor Alumni Association and a former member of the Industrial Nurses Organization.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. Pastor Simeon D. Raddatz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
