

MANITO ~ Lowenda Lee Wubben, 83, of Manito, passed away at 3:47 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2020 at her daughter’s home in East Peoria. She was formerly of Pekin. Her family, friends and coworkers knew her as Wendy.
Born October 3, 1937 at home in East Peoria, she was the daughter of Everett Rue and Sarah F. (Tackman) Whitley. She married Orvel Craig Wubben on June 12, 1955 in Pekin. He died November 7, 2013 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Craig Lee Wubben and four sisters, Ruth Moore, Mardell Stake, Opal Leamon and Irene Whitley, in infancy.
Surviving are two daughters, Teresa (Robert) Means of East Peoria and Deanna Wubben of Pekin; one son, Mark Wubben of Pekin; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Gail Whitley of South Pekin.
She was a 1955 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Lowenda worked 25 years at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin first as a bookkeeper and then as the office manager from the years 1974 to 1999. She then worked as a cashier at the Pekin Wal-Mart from 2001 to 2016, retiring at age 79.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, crocheting and being outside gardening. She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and the Women’s International Bowling Conference. Lowenda was big in supporting her community and doing good by serving on the auxiliary for the Forman Fire Protection District.
Private burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date. No public visitation is planned. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
