M. Louise West

Born June 19, 1922 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Frank and Edith (Poe) Evans, she married Duane J. West on October 19, 1937 in Sigourney, Iowa. He died September 18, 1983 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Billy Duane West on April 30, 1994; seven sisters; three brothers; four grandchildren; twin great-granddaughters and her son-in-law, Jack Long.

Surviving are her four children, Rosemary Long, Edith (James) Rupp, Gary Ronald (Teresa) West, all of Pekin and Gerrit Joe (Diana) West of Canton; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Louise worked at several retail stores in Pekin, at Pekin Hospital and also at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria in the pharmacy.

She and her husband owned and operated a café in Ogden, Iowa during World War II. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
