M. Marie Lowery

Born June 16, 1915 in Chattanooga, TN to John and Millie Turner, she married Paul Lowery, Sr. on February 14, 1935 in Chattanooga, TN.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 1968 in Pekin.

Also preceding her are one son; one daughter; four brothers and 4 sisters.

Surviving are two sons, David Lowery of Pekin, Paul Lowery, Jr. of Tremont; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

Marie had worked as a nurse for OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a past member of Tazewell Toastmasters Club #2702 in Pekin and an election judge for Tazewell County.

Marie loved flowers and enjoyed sewing, walking and bowling.  She loved helping people and volunteering for Pekin Hospital and the Red Cross.

She had been a very active member of the Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. W. Lloyd Brock will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
