Born May 5, 1927 in Edwardsville to Charles W. and Lorene (Pryor) Simpkins, she first married Floyd Calvert on July 30, 1950, whom she had three children with. He died January 12, 1994. She later married “Schenck” Elmer Brooks on October 30, 1999. He died December 29, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Karen Lovett.
Surviving are three sons, David (Shannon) Calvert Sr. of East Peoria, Phillip (Katy) Calvert of Florida and Ronald (Marcy) Calvert of Washington; seven grandchildren, David (Christina) Calvert, Jr., Wesley (Catherine) Calvert, Brandon (Kristi) Calvert, Megan (Nick) Hutter, Ryan Calvert, Bradley Calvert and Brittany Calvert; one sister and her best friend, Mildred (Charles) Lovett of Pekin.
A homemaker, of her own home. She was a loving mother and grandmother
She was a member of Pekin First Church of Nazarene for 60 years.
Margaret loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She also loved traveling with her husband to Florida for the winters. She also enjoyed camping, playing board games and embroidering.
Her funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday June 3, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Officiated by Rev. Brian Eatock. Her visitation will be held an hour prior. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
