Mary Alice Camp

She was born on August 22, 1935, in Spring Lake Township to Elmer and Katherine (Hilst) Abbott. Her parents; one brother, Elmer Abbott and one sister-in-law, Sharon Abbott preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Lois “Tinker” Vinson of Marquette Heights; one granddaughter, Jamie (Todd) Cargill of East Peoria; two great-grandchildren, Kailah Taylor of East Peoria and Brayden (Paige) Taylor of Peoria; two great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer Smithson of East Peoria and Sophie Taylor of Peoria; one brother, Leonard Abbott of Manito; four sisters, Betty (Melvin) Lipe of Carbondale, Darlene Nichols of Jefferson City, MO, Stella (Russell) Leinweber of Mason City and Rozella Abbott of Pekin; one sister-in-law, Beth Abbott of Manito and several nieces and nephews.

Mary worked for Fleming & Potter Packing Corp in Peoria for 30 years, retiring in 1997. She then worked as a crossing guard in North Pekin.

She was a member at First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Mary was a 1953 graduate of Forman High School in Manito.

She loved spending time with family and visiting with friends.

Mary’s memorial visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded.

Memorial contributions may be given to Miller Senior Citizens Center, 551 South 14th Street Pekin, IL 61554.
