Mary Elizabeth Galbraith

Mary Elizabeth Galbraith, 89, of Elmwood, formerly of Pekin, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 6, 1936, in Peoria, a daughter of John and Elizabeth "Ruth" Christina (Moehring) Deavers. Mary married Benjamin "Ben" Ray Galbraith on January 11, 1969, in Hanna City. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2011, in Pekin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Raymond Dismang; and brother-in-law, John Grant.

Mary is survived by her three children, Timothy (Taniece) Dismang of Springdale, Arkansas, Christina Fay of Farmington, Arkansas, and Marcia (Jack) Thomas of Elmwood; one sister, Judith Grant of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.

Mary was a beautician for many years at Beetler's Beauty Salon in Peoria and later at Les Jolie Femme Hair Salon in West Peoria.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she served as a greeter and a long-time choir member.

Mary enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a member of the Motormaides for many years and enjoyed attending their events. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events.

Mary's funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. Rev. Karl Eckhoff will officiate. Her visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm also on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
