Mary Jane Sipka

Born May 17, 1926 in Cherokee, Iowa to Paul W. and Ethel Rose Marie (Harms) Shafer, she married Walter Sipka on June 24, 1946 in Chicago. He died July 19, 2008 in Pekin. Also preceding her in death are her parents.

Surviving are two sons, Michael P. (Leah) Sipka and Stephen K. Sipka, both of Pekin; two grandchildren, Shelly (Chris) Bitner of Edwards, Michael K. Sipka of Pekin and three great-grandchildren, Owen Sipka, Max Sipka and Claire Bitner.

Mary Jane had worked for Pekin Insurance for 20 years.

A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary Jane enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin and Florida to visit family, playing cards, gambling, watching baseball, laying in the sun, shopping, cooking and getting together with family and friends and having a good time.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
