

Born November 24, 1927 in Decatur to Benjamin J. and Leota M. (Galbraith) Singleton, she married Ralph Allen Linder on August 15, 1948 in Decatur. He died February 4, 2011 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy A. (Stuart) Holder of Pekin; one son, David W. Linder; two grandchildren, Justin C. (Rebekah) Holder of Waukesha, WI and Megan E. (Ryan) Hinrichsen of Peoria and one great-granddaughter, Sophie Hinrichsen.
Mary graduated from Milliken University in Decatur in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She taught in Decatur at St Teresa High School for 8 years until moving to Pekin in 1970.
Mary was a member of the Pekin Hospital League for more than 40 years and a member of Chapter A.S. of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She also was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a former member of the Dirksen Center Guild and the American Association of University Women.
She was fond of sewing, knitting and especially reading.
Mary was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Her graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur. The Rev. Dr. Joel P. Catlin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
