Mike is my cousin, and we shared many childhood memories from our time living in Creve Coeur, IL. We also had lots of fun memories visiting our relatives in Kentucky, especially at my Uncle Ishmael Womble’s farm. Uncle Ishmael had a bunch of mules they used to work in tobacco fields and when they weren’t using them for the fields, we borrowed them to ride. While we never had any races because they weren’t exactly racing material, Mike, Jimmy, and I thought we were real cowboys.
I remember Jimmy’s visitation and funeral like it was yesterday and the sadness my heart felt for the passing of a beloved member of our family. As I sit here today in North Carolina many years after even the last time I saw Mike my heart feels the exact same way. I only learned of Mike’s passing today from mother who still lives in North Pekin, IL. I do though know that he was great family man, because he was a huge part of my family when we were just kids. To his family I want to express my most heartfelt condolences for your loss!

My sympathy to Mike's family and friends.  Mike will be missed as he impacted many lives as he cared for them and showed his love in "Mike's way".  

I have known Mike for just over a year, as I worked with him at the Pekin Outreach Center.  Mike brought in food he and/or his mom prepared that he knew the guests would enjoy.  His heart was for those that needed some help to get back  on their feet and off the street.  He invested time and money in those he felt led by God to assist.  They will never forget Mike and the love and care he showed to them. 

Someday I look forward to seeing Mike again at the feet of Jesus. We will spend an eternity serving our Savior together.

My very deepest sympathy to my friend Lew and to all of his family and friends. Prayers your way.  May the Good Lord grant you peace.

Remember getting 2 thick steaks cut at Nymans grocery and trying to eat all of them.  Played a lot of cards at Mikes house with good friends. A lot of fishing and fish cleaning. Mike driving my Miata  with the top down in winter. Our foreheads were red and frozen. Got to go to a bear game with Mike. Mike was best man at my wedding. We had a lot of good times together.

Mike will always be remembered for his gigantic heart and kindness. His blessings still hold strong among us. Love and peace

Dear Lew and family, I worked with Mike for the last couple of years on Fridays and he was a hard worker and a
 more helpful a person I have never met, He will be missed but he suffers no more, thank Our Lord as he was terribly uncomfortable in the last months of his life....

I got to know Mike when I was blessed to be a caregiver for George. Mike and Bubba were always such a great blessing to me. Mike treated me like family. He had an easy smile about him and and was always ready with a joke. He LOVED to tease me. I learned to give it right back to him and it only spurred him on. Mike loved well and he was loyal to his family and friends. It was a blessing and a privilege to get to know him. I am so happy he knew Jesus as his Savior and is now experiencing heaven and all glory of God. 
You will be missed, Mike!

This may be a weird one but I had a one time encounter with Mike and his mom. My husband and I lived in their home for a short time prior to them buying it. A package containing Christmas presents ended up being delivered to them instead of my new home address. Mike shared it via social media to find its owner and we exchanged phone #'s to schedule pick up. When I got there, I met two of the sweetest people ever.  We talked for much longer about his family, my little family, the house and it's history. Mike was so proud of the work he had put into the house, he gave me a grand tour of the home. He was such a kind person and I could tell he was a genuine loving man. My heart goes out to his family! ❤️ Prayers for peace and comfort! He was much too young.

I didn’t know Mike well but I know his mother and how much she loved him.  She liked to help him at the Outreach. My heart goes out to you and his family.
