

PEKIN ~ Paul Roland Durbin, 80, of Pekin, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at Pekin Manor.Born June 6, 1929 in Cowden to Paul Richard and Ora Ethel (Lortin) Durbin, he married Bonnie Mae Kyle on August 18, 1951 in Pekin. She survives.Also surviving are two sons, William Paul (Karen) Durbin of Hopedale and Paul Alan Durbin of Yukon, OK; one daughter, Gayle Yvonne Durbin of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon G. Durbin of Altamont and three sisters, Eileen Hessie of Huntington Beach, CA, Leona (George) Mikhail of Phoenix, AZ and Violet K. Ledford of Altamont.He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhonda Sue Durbin; two brothers, Halden Durbin and Kenneth Durbin and one sister, Rosaline Duckett.He was a Korean War Army veteran serving with the 8th Calvary heavy mortar company from 1948 to 1952.Paul retired in 1981 from Corn Products Company in Pekin as a dryer operator in the feed house with 33 years of service. He also was a partner in D & J Tree Service from 1969 to 1981.He was a life member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 in Pekin. He enjoyed hunting.His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 243 Derby Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
