

Born February 29, 1944 in Pekin to Earl and Margaret (McGinley) Sisk, she married Larry Richard Vanderwerf on July 15, 1972 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. He died April 1, 2021 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kathleen Diegel and four brothers, Robert, Clifford, Richard and Roger Sisk.
Surviving are two daughters, Kara (Lonnie) Krahn of Pekin and Julie (Troy) Coon of Manito; three grandchildren, Andrew Krahn and Katelyn Krahn and Brayden Coon; several nieces and nephews and her daughter from another mother, Patty Gardner.
Phyllis had worked as a Customer Service Rep. at Bergner’s in Pekin for nine years before retiring in 2002.
She previously worked at J.C. Penney’s in Pekin.
She enjoyed painting, crafting, making floral arrangements and had bowled in area leagues for several years. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a faithful member of Pekin First Church of God.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Stephen Greer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
