

The Rev. Eugene Burt "Bud" Talbot, 85, of 9600 Baden Avenue in Chatsworth, California, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, California. He was formerly of Pekin, Creve Coeur and Streator.Born December 8, 1920 in Manville to William Howard and Iris Larena (Burt) Talbot, he married Helen Elizabeth Hawkins on February 24, 1938 in Streator. She died September 8, 2001 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by one great-grandson.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandra L. (Charles) Lauss of Pekin, Judith L. (Charles) Holmes of Yucca Valley, California and Helen Geanne (David) Cruz of Chatsworth, California; one son, David Paul (Emly) Talbot of Palm Dale, California; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Audrey B. Ainsley of Streator.
A World War II Army veteran, Bud served in Patton's 10th armored tankers division in the European Theater.
While a youth, he worked as a farm hand and in the coal mines. He then worked in the Brickyard and as a steel worker, both in Streator. From 1941 to 1948 he was a painter for Hawkins & Talbot Steeple Jacks in Streator.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lincoln Christian College.
He entered the ministry in 1949 with the independent Christian church and first served at the Creve Coeur Christian Church. He also served at the First Christian Church in Erie, Rapid City Christian Church, First Christian Church in Belleville, Valley Christian Church in Pacoima, California, First Christian Church of Hayward, California, South Santa Ana Church of Christ of South Santa Ana, California, Christian Church in Costa Mesa, California. He retired in 1995 after serving the First Christian Church in Yucca Valley, California.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006at the Creve Coeur Christian Church. The Rev. John E. Plunkett and Rev. Kenneth Broad, his nephew, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Riverview Cemetery in Streator. Military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.
