

Born July 9, 1949 in Guntersville, Alabama to Richard and Mary (Harris) McCamy, Sr., he married Connie Pumphrey on December 8, 1978 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years; four sons, Rick McCamy of Wheeling, Corey McCamy of Creve Coeur, Waylon (Patheresa) McCamy of Green Valley and Justin McCamy of Manito; six grandchildren, Tori, Amanda, Jameson, Brigit, Quade and McKenna; his mother, Mary McCamy of Cookeville, Tennessee; one sister, Marsha (Andy) Loftis of Cookeville, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Butch was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. He was a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 in Pekin and 40 & 8.
He served as the youngest Alderman in Ward 3 in Marquette Heights and was also a member of the volunteer Fire Department.
Butch owned and operated McCamy Heating & Air, Inc. in Marquette Heights retiring in 2014.
He was Scout Leader for many years while his sons were members of the Boy Scouts. Butch was also involved in many rock bands in his youth the most notable being, Lexington Green and volunteered countless hours at the food pantry.
Butch was co-founder and o served on the board at 7 Circles Heritage Center and headed the Rainbow Dancers, a Native America cultured group. He traveled with his sons and other youth to many powwows with the Native American drum group, Spirit of the Rainbow.
A gathering celebrating Butch’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Liberty Hall in Marquette Heights where military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team at 2 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
