

Born July 18, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Leonard and Blanche Victoria (Pietrzak) Bettler, He married Nancy Ann Weisbecker on October 1, 1962 in Elmhurst. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, John (Maria) Bettler of South Elgin; two daughters, Julie (John) Innis of South Elgin and Jean (Wayne) Nelsen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Haley (Matthew) Fitzgerald, Katie (Thomas) Woelfel, Carlee Bettler, Emily Bettler and Cole Nelsen and one brother, Thomas (Darlene) Bettler of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Hannah Innis.
Dick worked as Environmental Engineer for the Department of Public Health retiring in 2000. Prior he was a partner in Affolter and Bettler Engineering & Surveying, working as a Professional Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor.
He loved to be with his family and especially loved and was very proud of his five grandchildren. Dick was an avid golfer and enjoyed goose hunting and fishing.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
His funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
