

He was born on August 1, 1953 in Peoria to James Henry and Nancy (Crisler) Garrison. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are five daughters, Wendy Olsen, Leah (Jason) Tarter, Heather Weis, Ashley Dickerson, and Cadence Garrison, all of Pekin; four sons, Korey Garrison of Baltimore, Maryland, Kolby (Cindy) Garrison of Lyman South Carolina, David Garrison and Justin Dickerson, both of Pekin; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Cindy (Rick) Fagerburg of Eureka, and Connie Knee of Manito; two brothers, James H. (Karen) Garrison of Bushnell, and Henry Eugene (Brenda) Garrison of Germantown Hills. He also leaves behind his loving companion, Brenda Dickerson of Pekin, with whom he shared his home.
Richard last worked as a truck driver with Horton Trucking Inc. He retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin and the American Legion in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, with a funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Jesse Bartz will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with military rites provided by the United States Army.
Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his daughter, in care of the funeral home, 500 N. 4th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
