Born April 29, 1938 in Oak Park to Esther Kanning Kane, he married Gail Paul on April 13, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Franklin Kane of Chicago and John Paul Kane of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
Richard was of the Protestant faith.
He had served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
He had worked as a truck driver for 18 years for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #705 in Chicago.
An athletic man, he enjoyed golfing and playing tennis.
His graveside service will be at noon Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Inter Veteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
