Born March 27, 1942 in Peoria to Jack Harvey and Elizabeth Jayne "Betty" (Stockton) Champion, he married Linda Kent. He later married Nancy Brown.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Brown of Peoria and Christopher Brown of Creve Coeur; three daughters, Cindy, Cheryl, and Kelly; and three sisters, Pam Davis of Peoria, Barb (Charles) Heil of East Peoria, and Nannette (Steve) Wilson of Creve Coeur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jackie Champion.
A United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from January 20, 1964 to March 11, 1965.
Dick was the caregiver to his son Christopher for many years.
His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June20, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Private burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
