Richard L Wagner

Born August 7, 1941 in Sublett to LeRoy and Roberta (Reid) Wagner, he married Judith A. Kent in 1961 in Dixon. She died August 24, 2006 in Dixon. He later married Louise Moore on November 21, 1980 in Pekin. She died April 4, 2010 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin (Jeffrey) Scholl of Polo and Laurie (Danny Dawe) Nash of Pekin; three sons, Joseph (Anita) Wagner of Dixon, Richard Batterton of Beloit, WI and James (Jennifer) Wagner of St. Joseph, IL; seven grandchildren, Amie, Thomas, Kent, Erica, Derek, Stephanie, Mason; four great-grandchildren, Skylynn, Ireland, Jayde and Drayson; one sister, Carla Barfield of Beaverton, OR and two brothers, Tim (Mindy) Wagner of Milledgeville and Mike (Cindy) Wagner of Dixon. He also leaves his beloved dog and faithful companion, Missy.

Dick worked in shipping and receiving at Montgomery Ward in Peoria for many years. He then worked at Federal Warehouse in East Peoria for over 20 years, retiring in 2003.

Dick enjoyed bowling, crafting, collecting things and going to auctions. He will be remembered as a generous soul. Dick also loved watching old time television.

His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Timothy Collard will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will then be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Dixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554. Contributions may also be given toward the care of his beloved dog, Missy.
